"Holy..."

This story about the "online comics market" in Korea has been misunderstood by others for two reasons. One, what the headline calls "online comics" is not webcomics but a Web-based exchange of print comics. Two, 43 billion won is a mere 41 million U.S. dollars. Nevertheless, that's still a reasonably impressive figure for what amounts to a low-tech version of file-sharing.

Comments:
I'm tempted to complete the sentence implicit in the title.

My money's on "...is effective against undead enemies.", seeing as we're talking about Korea.

I'm not surprised at this development. Korea is the most wired place on earth. I could throw a rock in a random direction and hit a PC Bahng (Like a cyber cafe but your usage doesnt depend upon you paying for an over-priced cup of coffee)

What does surprise me is that the creators are earning cash from the practice. Copyright tends to be someone else's problem here. And in that respect, I think it's great.

Too bad Daum users are the biggest mother fucking cyber vigilantes / cyber bullies on the planet.

Everytime I hear about their community's posting up someone's picture and personal information to get others to harrass them without repercussion, I want to smack the living crap out of them, the webmasters, and the ROK's MIC.
