Going to the Comic Book Store This Afternoon...

What should I buy?

I'm tiring of some old standbys and I'd like to get something like Off Road or the Runaways hardback, something I can sink my teeth into. I'm a fairly adventurous reader and will try almost anything once.

Suggestions in the comments line below.

I'm way behind on blogging. Look for multiple posts this weekend.

Comments:
The first godland trade is excellent

Not knowing, of course, whether or not you're interested in any of this stuff already... let's see... the Joss Whedon penned Serenity TPB is supposed to come out this week. I'm looking forward to that. Also, Alejandro Jodorowsky's Borgia: Blood for the Pope, which should be quite entertaining, at the very least.

Well, Infinite Crisis #4, just for the bit of shock value it has; X-Men Essentials #6 (it covers the complete Mutant Massacre and the "X-Men/New Mutants in Asgard"; Nextwave(from Marvel), cuz Warren Ellis wrote it; and Dramacon (from Tokyopop) cuz it's a really fun read and strikes home for con rats like ourselves. Oh, and the Flash: Rogue War TPB that came out last week. Excellent story.

Thor

Young Avengers is more than worth the cover price. It's everything Teen Titans used to be.

Black Panther and She Hulk are pretty tongue in cheek right now but entertaining as hell.

Argh. I forgot about the awfully-titled but promising Sexy Chix anthology from Dark Horse is also coming out this week.

I'll second She-Hulk and Young Avengers, the former especially. And if you haven't read Y: The Last Man or Ex Machina, try them.

Forgot some manga. Sorry for the second post.

I'd recommend Planetes (correct spelling) and Battle Royale. Both are great stories, though Planetes is a bit closer to my space-nerd heart. BR is pretty intense content-wise.
