Breaking Up Is Surprisingly Easy To Do.

No, this has nothing to do with my love life. I've left OhNoRobot, mostly because I could no longer figure out what I was contributing there in the first place. Ryan and I are parting on quite friendly terms. Full story and a statement from me here.

In other detentes, Jon Rosenberg and I have more or less mended fences. He's a man of principle, which I understand, and there were some misunderstandings between us, which I hope have been cleared up.

No word yet from Rodney, no further suggestions from Scott Kurtz, but the door's open there for as long as I'm revising, which'll be a little while longer. Assimilating feedback from others.

YOU MAY ALL RESUME YOUR LIVES NOW.

I didn't hear the air raid siren signal all clear?

Is it safe?

Bah! I think I'll go back underground and finish eating my MREs.

(puts gas mask back on)
(slams lid shut and spins lock)
(munching sounds)

Dude. That's not an MRE. That's a CRFH CD Compilation. ;)

"Jon Rosenberg and I have more or less mended fences."

Not surprising considering he hurled accusations and insults wildly and you responded with the patience and understanding of Mother Theresa.

Typically when one party acquiesces to all the demands and critiques of the other party, the attacker goes away happy.

Once the warm & fuzzies fade, he'll still harbor the same hostilities (quietly or otherwise), it's just hard to stay angry when you kill'em with kindness.

Patience and understanding require me to assume the best of people. It's remarkably rare that I'm disappointed, considering.

See, that's the main diff between us, T. And that's what I like about you.

Me, I'm never disappointed when I assume the worst in people. It makes me sad, to be honest. Like a deep enui that comes upon me in my sleep and wakes me up with it's horiffic emptiness.

Ehn, everyone's learned different life lessons.

I'd say there's quite a bit of self-fulfilling expectations to both those philosophies.

Now I'm bored.

Alexander, how many times do you need to be told that being sensible is not welcomed on the internet?

Patience and understanding require me to assume the best of people. It's remarkably rare that I'm disappointed, considering.

And for folks who don't relate to T's principles (which I agree with, FWIW), there's always my utilitarian argument for enlightenment:

"Life's too short to be a dickhead."

William,

I am suitably shamed. Next week, I will resume railing against irrelevancies, like a good webtoonist.

(opens bomb shelter lid)
(takes off gas mask)

Good! It appears to be safe. Now I can go out and stock up on beer and nachos.

(climbs out of bomb shelter)

Ahhhh! Fresh air! COUGH! COUGH!

(rumbling sound)

What's that?

(more rumbling)

That sounds like...no...it can't be.

(louder rumbling)

Oh....my.... (pumps shotgun)

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! IT'S THE COMPLETE VERSION OF THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL! SOMEONE POSTED IT ON YOU TUBE!

(sinister electronic humming)

RUNNNNNNNNNN! DON'T LOOK BACK! JUST RUNNNNNNNN!

(climbs back into bomb shelter)
(slams lid shut and spins lock)

(sky turns red and trees catch fire)
(cute woodland animals run for their little lives)

FADE OUT!

I could have sworn Sam Starfall had stolen that...
